enriching and scaling up the potential of Harumanis mango entrepreneur cooperative

Harumanis mango is exclusively planted in Perlis since 1984 and has since attracted tremendous demand. However, insufficient supply and lack of management capacity remain to be a challenge for Harumanis farmers in Malaysia. The Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industries of Malaysia saw the growth potentials in the Harumanis Perlis Entrepreneur Cooperative Berhad (KOHAMAS) that can be further developed in the CBF Project - empowering a total of 130 farmers with 100 hectares of cultivation area.

To ensure cooperative members adopt good agriculture practices and use appropriate agriculture technology to produce Harumanis mango and ultimately increase production and quality.

OBJECTIVES OF CBF PROJECT IN MALAYSIA

To strengthen KOHAMAS’s capacity as a farmer's cooperative that could benefit members in Perlis, run independently and sustainably in the long term, and act as a role model for cooperatives in other states.

OBJECTIVES OF CBF PROJECT IN MALAYSIA

To ensure a stable supply of Harumanis mango and secure profitable sales destinations by collaborating with an established supermarket.
