empowering the production of local ready-to-eat (RTE) salad to fulfill rising market demand
The Department of Agriculture and Agrifood identified that the majority of ready-to-eat (RTE) salad sold in Brunei are imported. While local farmers have the capacity to grow and produce the vegetables, they lack the capacity in processing the vegetables into RTE salad for a wider market. The CBF Project in Brunei Darussalam aims to enhance famers’ capacity in adding value to their vegetables produce through producing RTE salad that meets the market’s demand.
Before starting the implementation of the CBF Project in Brunei Darussalam, a team from the Department of Agriculture and Agri-food, Brunei Darussalam (DOAA), conducted a preliminary survey on selecting candidates for farmer’s organizations to be involved in the CBF Project.
A total of 33 farmers have been chosen as a candidate to participate in the CBF Project by the DOAA. These farmers are chosen based on their current production capacity of their raw vegetable products and their vast marketing channels to markets and retailers across Brunei Darussalam.
