The Manapat-a, Raniag, and Blestdam Farmers Associations (FCAs) in Mankayan, Benguet Province are identified by the Department of Agriculture - Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI) of the Philippines as the Target Group of the CBF Project in the Philippines. These FCAs have the potentials for a linkage to facilitate easier clustering and consolidation for a “Big Brother - Small Brother” approach in agribusiness.
As they are planning to supply Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC), the largest fast-food chain brand in the Philippines - among other sales destinations, the CBF Project in the Philippines guides the farmers’ organization for a collective marketing and farming to ensure a steadier value chain and source of income. With a completed Baseline Survey in June, DA-ATI is about to develop training materials for the FCAs, coordinate for a Japanese short-term expert visit, and form a Site Working Group in July. PMT will visit the sites and converse with the stakeholders in the middle of July.
